Stet vs Webflow
Webflow is the tool a marketing team asks for by name, and for a site it designs and hosts itself it is very good. It is also a different shape of product: the CMS is attached to a site Webflow renders. Take the content headless and the typed contract engineering wanted is not there, and the design tool most of the price pays for is doing nothing.
Side by side.
The same seven questions, asked of both. Checked against published documentation in July 2026.
| Question | Stet | W |
|---|---|---|
| Who models the content | Stet Marketing, in the UI. Collections, maps and fields with no deploy. | Webflow Marketing, in the UI. CMS collections and fields are configured visually. |
| Types in your app | Stet A typed client generated from the live model by a Vite plugin. | Webflow None generated. The CMS API is untyped, so applications describe it themselves. |
| When the model changes | Stet A removed field becomes a deprecation in the types. The build stays green. | Webflow No deprecation path. A removed field breaks whatever was reading it. |
| Analytics | Stet Included. First-party and cookieless, through your own infrastructure. | Webflow Basic site analytics, with most teams adding a third-party script and a banner. |
| AI | Stet Included. Drafting, suggestions and delegated tasks, approving every write. | Webflow AI features inside the Designer, aimed at building pages rather than editing content. |
| Hosting and licence | Stet Hosted cloud or self-hosted. Open source. | Webflow Hosted only, and it hosts the site itself. Not open source. |
| How pricing works | Stet $10 per user per month. Free to self-host. | Webflow Site plans and workspace seats are billed separately, with CMS item and API request caps per tier. |
What Webflow does better.
Nothing else lets a marketing team design, populate and publish a site without engineering at all. The visual editor and the hosting are the product, and both are excellent.
The fields from that collection, arriving in the editor as typed properties on the generated client.
Set up the clientWhen to pick Webflow instead.
Pick Webflow if the site itself should be designed and hosted in the same tool as the content, and no separate application is reading it. Stet deliberately does neither: rendering and hosting stay yours.
